Welcome to DAMA Denmark

A very warm welcome to all datamanagement professionals in Denmark, that is interested in improving competencies, sharing knowledge and invest time in making the management of data an acknowledged part of the strategic consideration in danish enterprises, organisations and educational institutions.

In a small re-writing of a danish saying: "Everybody is talking about data, but so few is doing anything about it", It might send a quite provocative message, because many data professionals actuallyaredoing something about it. It is just so, that a lot of effort seems to be put into correcting errors instead of putting work and mind into preventing these errors to arise in the first place.

We believe in building such prevention into any organisation, and by starting the DAMA community in Denmark we want to create a room for sharing and education, so this goal can become more clear, and achieveable for more organisations.

Feel free to join - we are looking very much forward to get this community on the rails and running.

DAMA Denmark purpose statement

“DAMA Denmark advances the practice of managing information and data”

DAMA Denmark is your danish gateway to education, certification, and career advancement in the Data Management profession based on the DAMA framework.

For over 30 years, DAMA has been the leading organization for data professionals by developing a comprehensive body of data management standards and best practices and shared this knowledge through the DMBoK framework.

Our History

The formation of DAMA Denmark started in the autumn 2019 where the founding committee had the first in a series of meetings to discuss ideas, motivations and our approach to forming the Danish chapter.

Little did we know then, that a pandemic were on the rise, and forced us to rely on online meetings for the latter part of our formation process. It has been a very different but still a fun, challenging and enriching journey to take part in.

In October 2020 we held the founding general assembly, and appointed the first Executive Board. And just a few days later the official affiliation agreement was signed by DAMA-I.

DAMA Denmark is now a reality, and we are both very proud of it, and we are looking very much forward to making a difference in the Danish world of Data Management professionals.

DAMA Denmark shares DAMA International's vision to be an essential resource to those who engage in information and data management.

Through events, sharing of knowledge and communication channels, we will continuallly seek to raise the attention to good practise on data management.

We will work to approach both organisations, enterprises as well as educational institutions and the public sector to seek dialogue and ways to help these parties to proffessionalise the way of working with data.
